Even thought it isn't official yet, Madrid's council, lead by Manuela Carmena, has put an stop to the project 'Wet Madrid' , which would have been built on IFEAMA, on Campo de las Naciones on 110 mil meter per square, which would have created a natural 25 mil meters per square of green areas, a 50 thousand cubic meters of capacity around artificial pond, a beach of 20 thousand square meters with a capacity for 5,000 people and a wave pool of 350 meters long by 180 wide, accommodating up to 140 surfers and generating 60 waves every hour.

the proposal of the companies Wet-Watersports and Surfing In The City to give Madrid a large surf complex, with an investment of 10 million euros and 0 cost for the municipal coffers, it had the approval of the previous municipal government, chaired by Ana Botella, and in February 2015, the Municipal Board of the District of Hortaleza passed a decree which was supported a feasibility study. The award of the concession of land use, very close to the Real Madrid in Valdebebas Sports city, would be made through public competition and for a period of 40 years extendable up to a maximum of 75.

However, with the arrival of the new municipal team and despite a favourable report from the Department of culture and sport, Monday, June 22, 2015 the General Sub-Directorate of legal regime of the city of Madrid made another unfavorable, whereas the project unfeasible to not adapt to the General urban Plan of 1997 where is established that you may only be available of installations or sports and culture without building in 15% of the land of the green areas, and Wet Madrid would occupy almost 50,000 m², 32,500 over the 15.450 maximum which could occupy the artificial, according to this percentage wave pool.

when the refusal is firm, Wet-Watersports and Surfing In The City may appeals to the report of the Madrid City Council, amend the proposal asking for a new location for the construction of the artificial Beach, or, exhausted all possibilities in the City of Madrid, lift the draft surfero in one of the nearby municipalities, where the legislation is not as restrictive, como ya sucede en el Parque de Surf de Snowdonia, construido por la empresa guipuzcoana Wavegarden en Comwy, Gales, al suroeste del Reino Unido, con las olas artificiales más largas del mundo.
