Young Guns: An Extraordinary Lifetime Opportunity for Teen Surfers
In only 2 weeks, the « Young Guns » contest launched by Quiksilver has already reached 1000 subscriptions! Young surfers from all over the world got super excited about the opportunity to surf in Kelly Slater’s famous Surf Ranch.
Groms, that’s also how we call those young surfers, coming from the word “grommet” and that refers to the surf culture. They were already invited to participate to the same contest last year in the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. Brazilian Samuel Pupo @samuel_pupo won the Young Guns in 2017 winning a check of 10K$, fame and reputation in the surf world.
Below is a video clip of last year edition in Sumatra!
Surfing at Kelly’s Surf Ranch: When the Dream Comes True
A quick reminder for those who aren’t familiar with Kelly’s creation: the Surf Ranch is located in Lemoore in California and you can ride a revolutionary artificial wave! Kelly Slater Wave Company developed the wave concept during 10 years and the first prototype was released in 2015. It quickly became a huge hit and receiving an invitation to the Surf Ranch is considered as a Golden Palm! Actually, the artificial wave experience is so exclusive that tickets for the WSL Founder’s Cup that was held at the Ranch reached 9.500$...
The legendary surfer Kelly Slater even said “It planted a seed or a dream in people’s minds. It captured a lot of people’s imaginations in a lot of ways”. And for the surfers who had the honor to ride at the Surf Range, everybody agreed on the amazing experience they had and how it could change the future of surf.
