Porto da Cruz Located in a charming town in the northeast of the island of Madeira. The area is very mountainous and full of walking trails. Porto da Cruz is a fairly exposed to currents reef break that has very consistent waves. Autumn and winter are the best times of year for waves. Calhau Surf School is a surfing school recognized by the Portuguese Surfing Federation. They are prepared to receive surfers of any level.

They strive to teach different weather conditions, tides, security measures, the fiferentes technical equipment and safety techniques surfing. The class lasts 2 hours and are in groups of 6 people or private. The surf team is always included good quality. Services also include Surf Guide. At the end of each lesson they do an analysis of photographs taken to record the progress of each student. The school has its own facilities on the beach, with changing rooms and lockers, and can take a fresh water shower at the end of the lesson. Accommodation is in the Hotel Vila Bela, 2 stars. It is located 100 meters from the beach and close to several surf spots with little people. The rooms are private, with bathroom and some with terrace. Nothing better after a long day at the beach to enjoy a book fund its large library of surf.
