Founded in 2001, Perfect Day Surf Camp stands out as one of the first premier surf camps in Los Angeles County, holding ongoing secured permits from cities and the county. The camp is not just about surfing; it's about creating a family environment where the owner, a loving mom with a supportive husband and two little kids, ensures a nurturing space for both campers and staff.
The owner fosters a family environment in the workspace and with campers. A parent or teacher is always on-site, understanding the unique needs of young children, including hydration, eating, and sunscreen.
Perfect Day gives back to the community by organizing fun surf days for various foundations, including Maui Ola Foundation, Joyful Heart Foundation, and Stoked Mentoring. These events serve individuals with conditions like Cystic Fibrosis, battered women and children, and inner-city kids, demonstrating the therapeutic benefits of the ocean.
Campers receive vibrant "safety" camp rash guards, serving as memorabilia. Parents can also use these rash guards for their safety at pools, beaches, amusement parks, and more.
Parents can conveniently schedule their child's spring and summer around their own schedules, with the option to drop in by the day. Early drop-off is available for working parents.
Daily topics cover ocean and beach awareness, including tides, currents, riptides, surf etiquette, and safety measures. The camp also educates children on stranger danger and what to do if they get lost on the beach.
Perfect Day maintains low camper-to-instructor ratios, providing a 4:1 ratio for surf camps (ages 8-17) and 1:1 for Lil’ Groms (ages 4-7) or any child needing individual attention. Other activities have an 8:1 ratio when not surfing.
The staff is lifeguard, CPR/first aid, and AED certified, ensuring a safe environment for all participants. Training classes are provided to all employees as needed. The camp offers surfboards, boogie boards, and wetsuits for campers to borrow. While the camp provides equipment, children are welcome to bring their soft tops. All camp locations boast safe sandy beach bottoms, avoiding local spots where campers might feel intimidated. The camp cherishes its locations and the positive relationships with local surfers.
Weekly surf contests add a touch of competition for campers. These contests, filled with fun and silliness, are optional, providing campers with a taste of surfing competition.
Perfect Day Surf Camp ensures that every camper experiences the joy of surfing in a safe, inclusive, and family-oriented environment.
