Nestled in the quaint fishing village of El Paredón, just a breezy 2-hour drive from Guatemala City and Antigua, Paredon Surf House is a tranquil beach retreat and hotel that beckons with relaxation and warmth.

Whether you're lounging by the beach, taking a dip in the freshwater swimming pool, riding Guatemala's consistent waves, or engaging in beach volleyball, boat tours of the mangrove reserve, community explorations, or turtle watching – Paredon Surf House offers an array of activities to suit every taste.

Since 2010, the surf house has been a haven for guests worldwide, both surfers and non-surfers alike. The brainchild of surf enthusiasts James and Christoph, the dream took shape in 2008 when they started building their ideal surf house. What began as a weekend retreat among friends transformed into a surf camp and guest house open to those seeking an escape from the bustling tourist beaches of Guatemala.

As their vision expanded, Paredon Surf House grew to include private Beachfront Bungalows, a refreshing pool, a rustic gourmet menu, and a range of activities. In June 2010, they opened their doors to the public, earning rave reviews. The soul of the place, despite its growth, remains a great spot for friends to savor the essence of El Paredón.

The commitment to the local environment is evident in their support for marine conservation and sustainable management of mangrove forests. Paredon Surf House collaborates with local marine biologists, contributing to sea turtle conservation in "Poza del Nance." They also aid the local government agency in maintaining the mangrove ecosystems and actively participate in reforestation efforts.

The accommodations at Paredon Surf House, while not luxury, exude a unique charm. With a capacity for 30 guests, each bed boasts high-quality mattresses and pillows, accompanied by new, large mosquito netting. The open design maximizes the sea breeze, providing a comfortable atmosphere. Oversized thatched-roof "skylights" and folding doors in various accommodations offer stunning ocean views, including vistas of volcanoes Agua, Acatenango, and Fuego.

The communal bathrooms, adorned with open-air showers amidst bamboo trees, provide a refreshing and private bathing experience. The group loft, beachfront bungalows, and suites each offer their own unique perspective of the beautiful surroundings.

The heart of Paredon Surf House lies in its kitchen, symbolizing the centrality of good, healthy food. Open for all to see and smell, the kitchen invites interaction with the chefs. Fresh, local, and diverse, the menu features catch-of-the-day fish, sausages, fresh salads, local-style rice, and a variety of vegetarian options.

In the morning, guests can relish unlimited free coffee, setting the tone for a day filled with healthy, fresh, and local delights.
